West Ham are in need of another rebuild this summer.

The Hammers massively disappointed last season after spending over £100million on new recruits in the summer, finishing 14th with just 43 points.

With Mohammed Kudus linked with a move to rivals Tottenham Hotspur, and only Jarrod Bowen hitting double figures for the Hammers last season, West Ham desperately need attacking reinforcements.

One target that has emerged is Harvey Elliott, who is set to leave Liverpool this summer in search of regular game time.

West Ham are big fans of the ex-Fulham man, but will face major competition to secure his signature.

La Gazzetta Dello Sport has reported in its print edition (page 21, 6 July) that Graham Potter’s side are one of five teams interested in Elliott, which include Brighton and Newcastle United.

Brighton are the favourites to sign the England Under-21 international, as the Seagulls are ready to part ways with Matt O’Riley.

The Danish international only moved to the Amex one year ago, but it is reported that the relationship between the club and O’Riley has reached a breaking point.

Elliott has been touted as his replacement, with the Englishman set to cost around £40m.

Elliott could shine in East London

Arne Slot hasn’t given his young star many minutes since he arrived at Anfield last summer.

Elliott saw his game time cut drastically under the Dutchman last season, recording just 360 Premier League minutes as the Reds won the title.

Competition Appearances Goals Assists

Premier League 18 1 2

FA Cup 2 0 0

Carabao Cup 3 1 1

Champions League 5 3 0

However, the midfielder is a star in the making, as shown in his performances at the Under-21 European Championships in June, where he scored in every round as England won the tournament.

With Kudus looking set to leave and Lucas Paqueta still awaiting a decision on a potential long-term FA ban, Elliott could become the creative spark West Ham desperately need.
