Last week, we covered claims from Spain that Luis Díaz’s agent had contacted Barcelona to state the Liverpool forward is still available, after they missed out on Atheltic’s Nico Williams.
Díaz is on the front page of today’s Mundo Deportivo, and it’s stated he’ll ask Liverpool to sanction a move this summer.
Barcelona are ‘100% focused’ on the Liverpool player, who is again their main target for attack. Mundo add they have intensified negotiations with the 28-year-old’s agent in recent days.
Unlike Williams’ agent, the newspaper states the Colombia international’s representative isn’t asking for assurances in writing from Barca that they will be able to register his client. The front page headline shouts ‘no conditions’.
Díaz, for his part, remains confident the Catalan club will be able to register him if they were to secure his services.
Mundo states: ‘In this climate of mutual trust, progress has been made in recent days, so Barca rule out any surprises like the one with the younger Williams and his agent. What’s more, Baraa is aware that Díaz plans to ask Liverpool to leave.’
Barca aren’t expecting the former FC Porto man to ask immediately as Liverpool are going through a difficult moment.
When the time is right, the South American’s plan is to ‘forcefully demand a sale’ to fulfil his dream of joining Barca.
His agent believes Arne Slot’s side need to raise funds after investing on Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez. Díaz’s representative feels this is an advantage to help him get out of Anfield.
Whether that’s actually the case or the agent’s confidence is misplaced needs to be seen.
Monday’s edition of Sport states the Premier League winners are refusing to negotiate for now. If they do, Liverpool won’t let the South American leave for less than €70-80m.
