Frida Maanum helped Norway go top of Group A in UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 with a 2-1 win over Finland on Sunday, while Lia Walti helped the host nation to their all-important first win to go second with a 2-0 victory over Iceland.
Maanum played the first half for Norway, who took an early lead courtesy of an Eva Nystrom own goal. Our forward played a wonderful switch to Caroline Graham Hansen, whose cross was turned into her own net by Nystrom.
Oona Sevenius pulled one back just beyond the half-hour mark to send the sides into the break level.

Graham Hansen netted the winner in the 84th minute to put Norway in pole position to reach the quarter-final.
Iceland are up next for them, who have not earned a point or scored a goal at the competition so far, in no small part thanks to Sunday’s 2-0 loss to Switzerland.
Walti played the full 90 minutes as late goals from Geraldine Reuteler and Alayah Pilgrim gave them a vital first win on home soil ahead of Thursday’s clash with Finland.
Our midfielder played an important role in the opener, recovering possession and playing a progressive pass forward.
Speaking to ITV after the game, she said: “We got carried by our fans and it was an incredible atmosphere. At the start we struggled a little bit to play our game, but in the end we created the chances we needed to win. I’m so, so happy!
“Finland has a great team so it’s going to be very different. It’s going to be a final for us and we have a home advantage.”
