Everton are clearly looking to strengthen their options at right-back ahead of the new season.
Kenny Tete had agreed to sign for the Toffees, with his contract at Fulham set to expire, only to change his mind and remain at Craven Cottage.
With Ashley Young leaving Goodison Park, David Moyes needs to reinforce the right-hand side of his defence, with Nathan Patterson and Seamus Coleman both injury-prone.
Despite Coleman recently extending his stay in Merseyside, the 36-year-old will likely have a bigger impact in the dressing room than on the pitch.

Everton in the market for Tete alternative
Everton are not only addressing the right side of their defence, with Nicolas Tagliafico close to joining the Blues and providing competition with Vitaliy Mykolenko on the left.
MORE TOFFEES STORIES
In addition to the proposed defensive addition, midfield is also an area Everton are looking to strengthen, with Conor Gallagher and Douglas Luiz being names linked to Moyes’ side.
Dharmesh Sheth shared the transfer latest from Finch Farm, speaking on Sky Sports News (7 July, 7:20).
He said: “Everton are in the market for a right back after Kenny Tete signed a new contract at Fulham.”
Kenny Tete Premier League stats (2024/25 season)
Appearences 22
Total minutes played 1779
Assists 2
Tete has been a regular at Fulham over the years.
Securing Tete, who has a wealth of Premier League experience on a free transfer, would have been an exceptional piece of business for Everton, and it will be tough for their recruitment team to find similar value in the market.

Everton must also sign a striker
With Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s nine-year stay in Merseyside coming to an end following the expiration of his contract, as well as Beto’s future being up in the air, Everton need to sign a striker.
Thierno Barry looks set to be the one leading the line for Everton next season in the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but they will need to have depth behind the Frenchman.
If Beto does leave, then the Blues need to find a cheap alternative to be a backup for Barry next season.
It’s all change at Everton this summer, with several new signings ahead.
