Arsenal Have Agreed£200K A Week, 5 Year Contract With Player As Gunners Close In On Next Transfer

Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, according to reports.

The Mirror claim that the Swedish international will sign a 5-year deal, worth £200,000 a week, if and when he completes his move to the Emirates.

An agreement over the transfer fee has yet to be reached, with Sporting still holding out for a fee in the region of €80m (£69m).

Gyokeres and his agents have been adamant that a promise that was made by previous sporting director Hugo Viana should be adhered to, which would have allowed him to move teams for just €70m (£60m).

However, club president Frederico Varandas has made it clear that the player would not move for that price, so it is now up to the Gunners to find a compromise.

Gyokeres is willing to make sacrifices to secure his move

Reports in the Portuguese media suggest that the 27-year-old would be prepared to give up €2m (£1.73m) of his own salary in order to help get the deal over the line.

Gyokeres has already made it clear to other potential suitors, including Manchester United, that he is prioritising a move to Arsenal and this suggests he will do everything in his power to make the switch happen.

Arsenal’s highest-earning players

If reports about Gyokeres’s salary are true, he would become the 5th highest earner in the first team behind Kai Havertz (£280k p/w), Gabriel Jesus (£265k p/w), Martin Odegaard (£240k p/w) and Declan Rice (£240k p/w).

The forward would actually take home more than both Bukayo Saka and William Saliba, although it is believed that those two players are currently renegotiating new deals which could see their wages increase significantly.

Be that as it may, it seems the Gunners are doing all they can to bring a top-class number nine who could help them finish top of the table next season.
