Report: Frustration for Everton as £40m target is now receiving 'lucrative' offers to play in…

Everton fans are hoping that the club’s transfer window will spring into life in the coming days.

The Toffees have only sanctioned one incoming deal so far, and that was turning Carlos Alcaraz’s loan move permanent.

It has mostly been about players leaving the club this summer, although it was probably always going to be that way, given so many were out of contract or only on loan.

Everton are closing in on Thierno Barry though, and it now seems to be a question of when, and not if, the striker signs from Villarreal.

Everton want new wingers on top of Barry.

And one player Everton have been linked with is Jack Grealish – but one update is somewhat ominous for David Moyes.

Saudi financial clout could blow Everton out of the water for Jack Grealish

Grealish needs a new lease of life having fallen by the wayside at City.

The 29-year-old warmed the bench a lot in 2024/25, making just 32 appearances for a total of 1521 minutes.

Grealish’s high wages make his next move complicated.

Most teams simply cannot afford to match what he is currently earning at the Etihad Stadium.

But clubs in Saudi Arabia can, and Caught Offside report that there are currently three outfits circling the City number 10, and are presenting lucrative offers to the winger and his team of representatives. They are:

SC Neom

Al-Ahli

Al-Hilal

If City are to sell Grealish permanently, they would want around £40 million.

Caught Offside add that there is still interest from English clubs, including Everton.

But the Toffees are only thought to be exploring a loan move at this stage. They would almost certainly need City to pay a portion of his wages if anything is to happen.

Grealish should choose Everton over Saudi switch

The earning potential in Saudi is well documented at this point.

But Grealish should strongly consider snubbing a move to the Saudi Pro League, in favour of remaining in the Premier League – and Everton could be the perfect place for him to rebuild.

It’s the start of an exciting new chapter for Everton with the move to the new stadium and new owners at the helm.

Grealish seems like he needs an arm around the shoulder – and Moyes is definitely someone who can provide that. The rise of Beto at Everton in 2025 is proof.

He would also get a huge show of support from an extremely passionate fanbase.

These days, it has been forgotten how good a player Grealish actually is and, were he to make a move to Everton, we could well see that exciting maverick we all saw at Villa make a return.
