What Ruben Amorim has shown to one Man Utd cult hero during his Old Trafford reign is perfect, ‘my impression from…’

Ruben Amorim has received a clear-cut verdict on his place as Manchester United manager after he became the club’s sixth permanent head coach in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

The 40-year-old Manchester United manager left his native homeland in 2024 and Ruben Amorim succeeded former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford dugout.

Erik ten Hag was sacked as United manager last October and Amorim was left to pick up the pieces of the Red Devils’ woeful 2024-25 Premier League season.

United struggled to build momentum in their lacklustre Premier League campaign last season after Amorim’s arrival from Portuguese side Sporting CP last November.

The Red Devils limped to a 15th-place finish in the Premier League table, which was United’s worst placement since the inception of the top-flight league back in 1992.

United also lost 1-0 to Tottenham in the Europa League final in May and ended Amorim’s hopes of lifting major silverware in the 2024-25 campaign at Old Trafford.

Man Utd cult hero Juan Mata reveals what he has noticed from Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford

Ruben Amorim’s men will be without European football for the 2025-26 campaign at Old Trafford after Manchester United’s Europa League final loss to Spurs in Bilbao.

The former Sporting CP head coach has a mammoth task ahead of him at Old Trafford in putting the Red Devils back on track under the Ineos regime.

Amorim has already shown his true colours as United manager and the Portuguese coach had not been afraid to speak his mind on the Red Devils’ form last season.

Juan Mata admitted that Amorim has a “lot of energy” and the Western Sydney Wanderers midfielder welcomes the United manager’s “passion” and “enthusiasm.”

Speaking to The Athletic, he said: “My impression from afar — and I’m very far in Australia — is that he’s got a lot of energy. I think it’s needed.”

Juan Mata added: “[His] enthusiasm, energy and passion for what he does and passion for helping the club. I love that.”

Juan Mata’s approval of Ruben Amorim is how many Man Utd fans felt about the manager ahead of the 2025-26 season

Amorim has had the backing of United fans since he replaced Erik ten Hag in 2024 and the manager has been honest with supporters about the task at hand.

The former Sporting boss has been cutthroat at times with his assessment, but Amorim has kept it real with the expectation over his reign at Old Trafford.

Amorim was open about there being short-term pain at the Premier League club before the long-term rewards from his ambitious project would become visible.

The United manager, much like Sir Alex Ferguson before him, has also wasted no time cutting players from his United first-team squad after his arrival at the club.

Amorim’s first real test at United is coming up with the 2025-26 Premier League season at Old Trafford and there’s no doubt he’s ready to step up for the challenge.
