The Forest ballad of Ola Aina

Ola extends contract to 2028

Defender has been key for Forest since moving to NG2

Reds have 16 clean sheets with Ola in the starting XI

Ola Aina moved to Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2023 from Italian side Torino, making his Reds debut on the left side of midfield against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

As the season progressed, the Nigerian international moved further down field to left-back, occasionally filling in at right-back as he began to find his feet in the Reds’ starting XI, including netting his first goal in Garibaldi, a sizzling strike against Aston Villa.

The Nigeria international would make 22 Premier League appearances in his first season on Trentside, before stepping up a level in 2024/25.

Ola switched regularly to right-back in September, a move which coincided with a first win against Liverpool at Anfield since 1978.

35 appearances in 38 Premier League fixtures followed for the 28-year-old, during which time he netted a stunning left-footed strike against West Ham United in front of the Trent End and helping the Reds 13 sheets across the league campaign.

In total, Forest have kept 16 clean sheets with Ola’s versatility and determination playing a huge part in the successes of our rearguard.

A Nigeria international with almost 50 caps to his name, we’re delighted Ola has extended his stay at the City Ground until the summer of 2028.

His infectious appetite for success and growth of the Club will serve us well as we embark on our return to European competition and our fourth successive Premier League campaign.
