A major update has arrived on Callum Wilson’s future in the last few moments.

After Lee Ryder and Craig Hope indicated this morning that the 33-year-old is edging towards an exit, it looks like we’ll soon see an official announcement from the club that he is in fact departing.

According to [Fabrizio Romano](https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1942173034686697931), ‘it’s over’ between Newcastle and Wilson, with the transfer expert revealing that formal confirmation of his departure is due to follow.

Romano adds that Wilson will say goodbye to club staff and teammates soon, as he is NOT going to sign a new contract at the club ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Writing on X, he said: _‘Understand it’s over between Callum Wilson and Newcastle, decision made with formal confirmation to follow._

_‘Wilson will soon say goodbye to #NUFC staff, fans and teammates as he’s not staying at the club with contract now expired.’_

Our number nine had held talks over an incentivised deal, but it’s believed our initial offer was rejected by the striker, who is currently away doing punditry work at the FIFA World Cup for Channel 5 and DAZN.

It remains to be seen where he goes next, with Leeds, Burnley and Everton linked along with Championship sides Wrexham and Birmingham City, but we’d like to thank Callum for all his efforts and goals over the years.

Injuries aside, he’s been a superb servant through the ups and downs, helping us stay up under Steve Bruce before firing us back into the Champions League with 18 goals in 31 games over the 2022/23 season.
