Arsenal Women have strengthened their squad ahead of the new season with the signing of Jamaica international Taylor Hinds on a free transfer. The 26-year-old defender returns to north London on a three-year deal, rejoining the club where she began her footballing journey over a decade ago.

Hinds arrives from Liverpool following a successful five-year spell, during which she made 131 appearances, scored eight goals, and played a key role in the team’s promotion to the Women’s Super League (WSL) in 2021-22. Most recently, she served as vice-captain in the 2023-24 campaign, underlining her leadership credentials.

Speaking to arsenal.com after sealing her move, Hinds said: “I’m so proud to have signed for Arsenal. I want to push, compete and be winning trophies – and this club encompasses all of that. You can see what direction Arsenal is going in and everyone at the club wants to win. This is a full-circle moment for me and I’m grateful to come back to a place I called home when I was younger. I can’t wait to get started and to step out on the pitch at Emirates Stadium in front of all our incredible supporters.”

Wearing the No. 24 shirt, Hinds brings proven top-flight experience and versatility, capable of playing at full-back on either side or in midfield. A product of Arsenal’s academy, she made her senior debut in the 2017/18 Conti Cup before stints at Everton and Liverpool helped her develop into one of the WSL’s most dependable and dynamic defenders.

💬 “This club, as a whole, wants to push for more. I want to push for more. I’m just buzzing to be here.”

Arsenal’s Director of Women’s Football, Clare Wheatley, welcomed the signing, stating: “Everybody at Arsenal is thrilled to welcome Taylor back to the club where she spent several years at the start of her career. She is a player with great quality and vast experience of top-level football, and will be an excellent addition to our group as we aim to compete on multiple fronts next season.”

Head coach Renée Slegers echoed the excitement surrounding Hinds’ return: “We’re delighted to welcome Taylor back to Arsenal. She’s a versatile player who has great experience from multiple seasons in the WSL with Liverpool, where she took on a leadership role. I’m excited to get started with Taylor on the training pitch and I’m sure our supporters will join me in welcoming her back to the club.”

Hinds’ return marks Arsenal’s second summer signing after Chloe Kelly, as the club looks to build on their recent UEFA Women’s Champions League triumph and mount a serious title challenge in the WSL. Her arrival adds crucial depth to the squad, particularly in defence, and could ease the burden on regular starters such as Katie McCabe and Emily Fox.

A graduate of Arsenal’s academy—where she spent seven years from the age of 11—Hinds’ return is more than just a strategic signing; it is a personal and emotional homecoming. “This is a full-circle moment,” she reiterated. “I’m ready to contribute and help this team win silverware.”
