Tottenham have held fresh talks with West Ham over their pursuit of Mohammed Kudus in recent days, according to their former scout.

Mick Brown, who worked for both West Ham and Spurs during an extensive career in scouting, and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, exclusively told Football Insider that all parties are keen to reach an agreement over the 24-year-old.

After their initial bid worth £50million was turned down by the Hammers, Thomas Frank’s side are believed to be edging closer to a more suitable fee that could be around the £65m mark.

Football Insider revealed last month that West Ham are prepared to sell Kudus with Graham Potter prepared to lose the Ghana international to raise funds.

The Hammers are believed to be holding out for a fee closer to his £80million release clause, but there is a growing feeling that they will reach a compromise.

Brown told Football Insider in April that West Ham will accept offers for Kudus below his release clause, as neither Spurs nor Chelsea are willing to meet it.

Tottenham close in on agreement to sign Mohammed Kudus

Brown told Football Insider in May that Graham Potter is prepared to sell Kudus and is planning for life without the Ghana international.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that negotiations are ongoing with Spurs and West Ham keen to reach an agreement.

“Tottenham are working hard to sign Kudus,” he told Football Insider.

“They’ve made it clear he’s the one they want, and they’re talking to West Ham about it.

“Of course, they had that initial bid rejected, but they’re not going to walk away now and they’ve still been in negotiations behind the scenes.

“From what I hear, West Ham want closer to his £80million release clause to let him go.

“They’re not going to get that much, and they know that.

“So Tottenham came in with £50million, and both clubs are now working to agree a fee somewhere in between their two valuations.

“It’s something both clubs are looking to get over the line.

“For West Ham, they feel they can move on without him and use the funds to strengthen elsewhere.

“So it makes sense that they’ll drop their asking price slightly and will eventually come to an agreement.”

Jacob Ramsey update emerges after Aston Villa twist

While they continue to push towards an agreement over Kudus, Spurs are also believed to be working on a deal to sign Aston Villa star Jacob Ramsey.

Brown told Football Insider on 2 July that Tottenham are interested in signing Ramsey and have held talks with his agent about a move.

Frank is believed to be a big fan of the midfielder, while he has been a long-term target for Spurs’ recruitment team who have been tracking him all season.

Former Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider on 6 July that Tottenham could agree a cut-price deal with Villa, who plan to raise funds from his sale.
