Arsenal are set to step up their efforts to sign Chelsea star Noni Madueke in the coming days with a formal offer lined up behind the scenes.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Chelsea are prepared to let the 23-year-old join their London rivals.
This comes after the Gunners agreed personal terms with Madueke while Mikel Arteta has laid out plans for the winger’s role in his squad.
Football Insider revealed in April that Enzo Maresca has concerns about Madueke’s attitude and whether he fits in with his plans for the future.
As a result, the Chelsea boss is willing to let him leave should the right fee arrive, and they are now prepared to engage in conversations with Arsenal.
This comes after Football Insider revealed in January that Arsenal planned to sign a “superstar” winger in the mid-season window but opted to wait until the summer.

Arsenal plan to step up Noni Madueke talks with Chelsea
Brown told Football Insider on 6 July that Arsenal will step up their interest in Madueke after agreeing a deal to sign Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres.
Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has explained it is a deal which looks likely to benefit all parties involved.
“I am expecting Madueke to join Arsenal,” he told Football Insider.
“It’s the type of deal that would work for all parties, because Arsenal are serious about their interest and I hear Chelsea are willing to let him go.
“That should be enough to get the ball rolling and Arsenal are preparing an offer for him.
“I don’t think they’ll have any reservations about letting him go there if the price is right.
“For me, he has got to be playing regular football at this stage of his career.
“Arsenal have got to decide what their plans are for him, and I have no doubt Arteta will have laid out those plans for him already.
“Is he going to start ahead of Saka? No. Maybe he’ll play on that left-hand side, but he’s not a left-winger as much as he is obviously capable of playing there.
“But they’ve decided he’s the one they want so the manager must have a role in mind.
“He’s got a lot of assets which are going to benefit Arsenal and a lot of talent they clearly admire.
“So I think they’re going to make that formal offer before long and it shouldn’t be too hard to reach an agreement with Chelsea.”

Eberechi Eze update emerges at the Emirates
Alongside their pursuit of Madueke, the Gunners are also planning to step up their interest in Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze in the coming weeks.
Brown told Football Insider on 6 July that Arsenal are holding internal discussions about Eze and whether to trigger his £68million release clause.
Palace are prepared to stand firm on their valuation and will not accept offers below the clause, forcing interested parties into a big decision.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider in April that Arsenal “would love” to sign Eze as Arteta plans to add more drive and creativity to his starting XI.
