**After a week of silence, Newcastle United have today confirmed that Callum Wilson has left the club following the expiration of his contract.**
Newcastle's latest No. 9 was certainly worthy of the shirt number with what can only be described as a phenomenal strike rate for the club.
Arriving from Bournemouth for £20 million in 2020, Wilson would go on to bag 49 goals in all competitions for the Magpies.
Unfortunately, it wasn't always goals and good times for the striker who suffered more than his fair share of injuries which likely stopped him from becoming a bonafide Toon Hero, although he will always be remembered as a fantastic player.

Newcastle United finally confirmed via social media that Callum Wilson has left the club
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A post put out by the club on X confirmed the 33-year-old had left the club, with NUFC wishing him well.
> "Callum Wilson. Goalscorer.

> "Thank you for the memories, CW9 🫡"
After his actions on the last game of the season at St James' Park, it seemed inevitable that Wilson would be leaving as he appeared to say an emotional goodbye to the Toon Army.
Good luck, Callum Wilson

It had been reported just this morning that the club and Wilson were still in talks despite him having rejected the club's incentivised contract offer, but it seems that the decision had already been made.
It was a shame that Wilson couldn't manage to hit 50 goals for the club last season as he struggled for minutes and form, but we'll always remember the goal-scoring streaks he went on that helped us stave off relegation and then compete in the Champions League.
Good luck wherever you end up, Callum. We're sure we'll see you in the Premier League next season.
