The long running saga – along with all the other FA long running sagas – **_turns in to a farce_** as the two year investigation conducted by the English football authorities into [Lucas Paquetá’](https://www.claretandhugh.info/west-hams-lucas-paqueta-dealt-a-further-hammer-blow/)s ‘yellow cards for bets’ is still unresolved. Allegedly the FA have made their decision but won’t make it public which is turning an ordeal into a crisis of huge proportions for both the player and West Ham themselves who are both in limbo, with a _fifth transfer window blighted by the inability of the club or player to conduct a move with the FA allegations hanging over him._
It is outrageous. According to today’s [_Mirror.co.uk_](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/west-ham-lucas-paqueta-case-35512154) :
_“West Ham livid with FA as Lucas Paqueta spot-fixing case set to drag on into new season”_
Which means the Brazilian cannot move clubs with the threat of a lifetime ban still hanging over his head, and West Ham cannot do anything with their highest earning player who once commanded an £80 million price tag before the pathetic two plus years of bungling investigation and hearing from the FA.
The poor guy was reduced to tears after receiving a yellow card last season, such is his mental anguish over having his career and livelihood put on hold with a non democratic, non-accountable organisation carrying out a secret, unpublicised investigation and hearing ‘_in camera’_ and then refusing to reveal its findings.
_Whisper it quietly but it means Paquetá has no choice but to play next season at West Ham_. Which is little comfort to the player, his family and indeed the club who might well want to move him on. At present Paquetá seems to have no choice but to grit his teeth and sit it out. I hope once an innocent verdict is finally revealed, both Paquetá and the club can sue the shirt off the back of the FA for compensation, loss of transfer fees and mental cruelty that they’re inflicting on him and his family.
