David Ornstein reported for The Athletic over the weekend that Chelsea’s Noni Madueke had agreed personal terms with Arsenal as the Gunners considered an approach to his club for a transfer.
Ornstein clarified that though Madueke has given the green light, and Arsenal have strong relations with Chelsea behind the scenes, there haven’t been any talks between the two clubs yet.
Sami Mokbel has since confirmed for the BBC that Arsenal and Madueke have agreed personal terms, with Chelsea aware of the Gunners’ interest. But again, he adds that there’s no deal on the club side.

Fabrizio Romano subsequently reported that Arsenal are set to send an opening bid for Madueke, but other reports suggest it’s not clear whether or not the two parties will be able to reach an agreement.
Whilst Arsenal are reportedly looking for a deal in the region of £40m, Ed Aarons reports for The Guardian that Chelsea value him at £50m (though he adds that could be open to negotiation).
Sam Dean, Sam Wallace, and Mike McGrath confirm for The Telegraph that Chelsea are expecting offers of £50m+ for Madueke this summer, adding that it remains to be seen whether Arsenal would be as willing at that price.

If Arsenal and Chelsea can reach an agreement, it seems like there won’t be any issues on the player’s side. Madueke would represent a useful addition to Arsenal’s front three, given his versatility, capable of playing on the right or the left.
The 23-year-old has been making progress with Chelsea year on year. After scoring just once in 12 games (against Arsenal) in his first half season in west London, Madueke managed 12 goal contributions in 34 games in 2023/24, and he has 16 goal contributions in 45 games in 2024/25.
Given Chelsea’s ongoing participation in the Club World Cup, Madueke wouldn’t be linking up with his potential new Arsenal teammates for a while, even if the two clubs can agree terms.
