Several former UCLA players are currently competing in the 2025 NBA Summer League, aiming to establish their presence and secure a roster spot. Here are a few key players from the Bruins who have yet to solidify their place on an NBA regular-season roster.
Kobe Johnson has signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Atlanta Hawks following his time at UCLA, despite not being selected in the 2025 NBA Draft. The Hawks made him a priority. Essentially, his agreement indicates that he will compete with their Summer League squad in hopes of securing a spot on Atlanta's training camp roster. If he performs at a high level, he might secure a contract that allows him to either play on their NBA G League team, the College Park Skyhawks and or sign a two-way contract, which would be the best case for him. Johnson has earned a reputation as an exceptional defender. He earned a spot on the All-Defensive team three times during his tenure at USC and UCLA. If his offensive skills continue to improve in combination with his quickness and defensive prowess, he could see himself playing in the NBA next season.
Lazar Stefanovic, who went undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft, is now a part of the Orlando Magic's roster. The Magic extended an invitation for him to participate in the Summer League. Stefanovic showcased a diverse skill set during his time at UCLA, earning the admiration of fans and teammates alike. As the team changed during his final year at UCLA, his offensive contributions and overall success diminished. However, he has built a reputation as a true team player, and the expectation is that if he can play well enough, he will be able to play on the Magic's G League affiliate, the Osceola Magic.
Jules Bernard has secured a spot on the Golden State Warriors' roster for the 2025 Summer League. He has previously suited up for the Washington Wizards during the Summer League last year. Bernard played a crucial role in propelling UCLA to the Final Four in 2021 and the Sweet 16 in 2022. He was with them for four seasons. He aims to advance to the professional level, having previously competed in the G League with the Cleveland Charge.
Former Bruin Jules Bernard just finished playing for the Golden State Warriors Summer League team in the California Classic. He scored eight points in the Warriors win over the Lakers and put up eight points again, making all four of his free throw attempts against San Antonio.
