Dan James had a remarkable campaign as Leeds secured a return to the Premier League.

Daniel Farke‘s side won the Championship title and the Welsh wizard was a key part in that success.

The former Manchester United star notched 12 goals and nine assists in 36 matches as the Elland Road side ended their two-year absence from the elite level.

He is set to be a key part of the LS11 outfit’s plans to stay in the top-flight, against all odds next season.

James is set to sign a four-year deal at Leeds ahead of their return to the Premier League.

Iconic commentator Ian Darke believes that James will be a better player upon his return to the top-flight, given recent experiences at Elland Road.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, he said: “I think it is right that he is rewarded for what he did last season.

“He is probably going to be a more effective player in the Premier League than we have seen when he played in it before.

“He is a dangerous and extremely fast winger that they definitely need to keep on board, for him to be getting a deal that reflects all of that is only right.”

Leeds keeping James around is the right move

James was arguably Leeds‘ most important player last season; he always seemed to pop up with a goal at the right time.

If he can continue that impressive form in the top division, then the Peacocks will have every chance of staying in the league.

The 49ers need to continue to back Farke; he needs more signings to ensure that his side are well placed to achieve their ambitions.

The Whites have been heavily linked with the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Nikola Krstovic, and while bringing an attacker is important, keeping James may be the most crucial decision of them all.

As Darke states, there is a chance that he could raise his game even further next season, and if he does, that will only be a positive for the Yorkshire outfit.
