Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford could be forced to miss out on his move to Barcelona following reports that the La Liga champions are planning to make another approach for Luis Diaz. The 27-year-old was one of five players to signal their intention to leave Ruben Amorim's side this summer, in order for pastures new.
Rashford joined Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia in wishing to explore new opportunities after they all spent time on loan away from Old Trafford last season. As a result, not only was Rashford's return for pre-season delayed but he saw his number 10 shirt handed to new signing Matheus Cunha following his move from Wolves.
Barcelona were said to be interested in Rashford over a possible move for the United academy graduate, however the exit path to join the Spanish giants looks to be closing.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Hansi Flick's side are said to be eyeing a move for the Liverpool forward Diaz.
Barcelona are reportedly not put off by the Anfield club rejecting an approach to sign him earlier in the transfer window and the reporter claims that they will return to the table in a bid to land Diaz.
The Colombian international is rumoured to be keen on the move to Spain's top-flight and it has been reported that he is their main target as a winger following Barcelona's failed pursuit of Nico Williams.
In a potential glimmer of hope for Rashford to join Barcelona, the club are said to be aware of difficult negotiations with Liverpool after two approaches have already been rejected.
Last week, AS reported that the chances of Rashford signing for Barcelona are slim, with the player's desire to join described as 'more of a wish than a reality'.
It has been said that Flick and sporting director Deco do not consider him as a priority with the club looking for a versatile forward who would be willing to make sacrifices.
