Burnley and Leicester City in the mix to sign midfielder – Club want to terminate contract

There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Burnley and Leicester City are showing interest in Besiktas attacking midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Besiktas are again looking to offload the former Arsenal and Liverpool player after failing to sell him last summer.

Haber Turk report on Burnley and Leicester City interest in Oxlade-Chamberlain and state the two English clubs are in the race to sign the player, along with others.

It’s claimed Besiktas are considering terminating the 31-year-old’s contract as they look to get him off their wage bill. Oxlade-Chamberlain currently earns €3m a year, after tax, which is an issue for the Istanbul club, as was the case for the recently departed Ciro Immobile.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is reportedly having treatment for a fitness issue in England, but he will hold talks over his future when he returns to Istanbul. The player wants the situation resolved quickly and it’s likely he will be eyeing a return to his home country.

He made 20 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring one goal. The midfielder is contracted to Besiktas until June 2026, and Burnley and Leicester City would surely want to assure themselves of the player’s fitness before going any further.
