Nuno Espirito Santo will play a key role in keeping Igor Jesus in check as the Brazilian moves to Nottingham Forest this summer, according to Keith Hackett.

The former PGMOL chief and ex-FIFA official exclusively told Football Insider that he has been extremely impressed by the manager’s etiquette on the sidelines, which likely rubs off on the players.

While the Reds did receive the fifth-highest number of yellow cards in the Premier League, only two red cards were shown to Espirito Santo‘s side, and the team are about to bring in another excitable forward.

Jesus has picked up 23 yellow cards and two red cards across appearances with Coritiba, Shabab Dubai, and Botafogo, and given that he is a centre-forward, some have been concerned by his eagerness and recklessness.

Forest fans are extremely excited for the 24-year-old to arrive at the City Ground, especially following his performances at the Club World Cup this summer, even scoring against PSG in a 1-0 win.

Anthony Elanga remains linked with a move to Newcastle United, though Football Insider understands that the Magpies are looking at other options should a deal fall through over the coming weeks.

Keith Hackett has been impressed by Nuno Espirito Santo’s management.

“When I look back at the days of Forest under Brian Clough, the one thing under him was that Forest were the easiest team to referee. There was no dissent, and if there was, Clough was onto that player.

“I do think this manager has a calmness about him that will reflect on the players. What he’s done at Forest is terrific. He seems to deal with conflict really well, so I think he’ll influence that player.”
