‘The boy is not moving’ – Firm stance despite major Newcastle United interest

Over the weekend, the Italian press covered the unwillingness at Atalanta to sell Giorgio Scalvini, regardless of interest from Newcastle United.

Gazzetta dello Sport insisted Le Dea had no intention to enter negotiations for versatile defender’s sale and TuttoAtalanta have now reported similar.

They claim that ‘the boy is not moving’ from Bergamo, even if Newcastle United is known at the club’s Zingonia base.

Sources Atalanta the Magpies are ready to offer ‘mind-boggling figures’ to sign Scalvini this summer but that will not matter to La Dea, who believe the Italy international will be a key part of Ivan Juric’s side next season.

Napoli and Inter Milan are also keen, but they’ve got little chance of a deal either.

The player himself is not keen on leaving Atalanta and is not interested in a switch to Newcastle United. He wants to become an important player for La Dea and is happy to ignore any offers that come his way.

Atalanta’s firm stance is seen as a big signal to the other major sides in Italy that they mean business and want to compete at the highest level.
