The Newcastle United squad are showering Callum Wilson with tributes following confirmation of his exit from St James’ Park.
It was announced on Monday that Callum Wilson is leaving Newcastle United, with the 33-year-old officially a free agent following the expiration of his contract.
There were talks over an extension, but it has now been confirmed that Wilson is leaving the club.
It is an emotional day for supporters, many of which believe Wilson is a Newcastle United legend after five years with the club.

That is a sentiment that will be shared by Anthony Gordon, who has posted a beautiful message about the striker on his official Instagram account.
“Honestly one of the best and most inspiring people I’ve met,” Gordon wrote alongside pictures of himself and Wilson together.
“Elite mentality and teammate, I’m gunna miss you brother. Good luck with whatever comes next.”
When Gordon first joined Newcastle United in 2023, Wilson was one of the players who helped him settle in. While supporters mainly just saw Wilson’s goals, he brought much more than that to the club.

Gordon is not the only Newcastle United player who has reacted to Wilson’s departure. Bruno Guimaraes, Sven Botman, Kieran Trippier and Sean Longstaff have also posted tributes on their respective Instagram stories.
Bruno wrote: “You gunna be missed bro. All the best my bro.”
“One of the purest persons I ever met, a true friend for life,” said Botman.
“See you soon broskii, good luck with the next chapter.”
Trippier posted: “Good luck my brother, will miss you.”
“Proper number nine and a top person! You’ll be missed mate,” added Sean Longstaff.
Elsewhere, various other members of the Newcastle United squad have commented on Wilson’s Instagram post that saw him confirm his departure.
Joelinton wrote: “We will miss you boy.”
Joe Willock commented: “Definitely one of the best this club has seen. Going to miss you brother.”
“Thank you for everything brother,” added Tino Livramento.
Jacob Murphy posted: “One of the best! The mark you left is bigger than you’ll ever know brother.”
“Gonna miss u bro,” commented Fabian Schar.
The volume of messages epitomises how loved Wilson was at St James’ Park. He has been a key player ever since his arrival five years ago, while he has been a model professional on and off the pitch.
Whichever club signs him next will be getting an outstanding player, both in terms of a goalscorer and a dressing room presence. The main hope will be that he can be the former wherever he goes, as goals had started to dry up for Wilson. His final season on Tyneside ended with one goal in 22 appearances.
But it is his goals in his first few years that he is best remembered for, as Newcastle United wave goodbye to another iconic number nine. He was certainly worthy of the shirt, while the Newcastle United squad are losing an inspirational figure.
