Now I feel the wind blow
Outside my door, means I’m
I’m leaving my Dots at home
Jedd Fisch has frequently returned to the theme of UW Football being modeled after an NFL franchise. He applies that philosophy off the field, as well. The Seattle Times profiles Cameron Foster, a longtime player agent who has joined the Huskies to work on revenue sharing and NIL payments. Foster has represented Vita Vea in the NFL and other Huskies. Fisch and his staff have brought in a diverse group of leaders in their “front office.” Given the level of uncertainty in the area of player payments over the next decade, having diverse experiences adding different points of view is sure to be helpful.
Even though I know nothing about track and can barely run faster than a casual trot, I have been enthralled with the emergence of UW’s mid-distance runners over the last few years. Sophie O’Sullivan has been arguably the brightest star in a pretty well-illuminated sky. The Seattle Times goes in depth with O’Sullivan, whose mother was also a world-class track athlete.
Two future Huskies faced off in the finals of the FIBA Under-19 World Cup. Hannes Steinbach continued to star for Germany with 20 points and 7 rebounds. JJ Mandaquit came off the bench to dish out 7 assists for the victorious USA team. The Americans won the tournament, but Steinbach secured a place on the all-tournament team by averaging 17.2 points and 14 boards per contest.
Speaking of Husky Basketball, Kelsey Plum continues to bring glory and honor to the women’s program. The former UW megastar earned her fourth WNBA All-Star nod. She ranks in the top-10 in the league in points, assists, and free throw shooting. Plum likely sits behind Napheesa Collier, Caitlin Clark, and A’Ja Wilson as MVP favorites, but she is in the mix with anyone else the league.
Washington found ways to win all year in the clutch moments and looked like they were on the verge of doing it once again in the National Title before a phantom holding call wiped out a huge gain. pic.twitter.com/EtbwhB0CP8
