Liverpool star hints at departure, agrees personal terms with Bayern - Liverpool News

Luis Diaz has agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich despite the club’s failed approach for the player earlier this transfer window, according to German publication Bild.

Bayern had an approach for the player rebuffed by Liverpool in late June and have not yet re-entered negotiation with the Reds. They remain keen on the Colombian however and have stepped up their efforts to convince the player.

Bild reports that Diaz has “assured” the German champions of his interest in joining the club, after Bayern got in touch with the player’s camp over the weekend. Bayern are now hoping the player can help push through a deal.

Bayern are reeling from the loss of Jamal Musiala who suffered a fractured fibula after a coming together with PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in Saturday’s Club World Cup quarterfinal. They have also lost Leroy Sane to Galatasaray on a free transfer following his contract expiration this summer.

The futures of Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry also remain uncertain, with the latter entering the final 12 months of his contract.

Bayern still chasing Diaz

Liverpool reportedly value the player at around €70 million should they agree to enter negotiations, but as it stands insists the player is not for sale to begin with. The player himself would have to push for the deal to accelerate any progress in negotiations between the two clubs.

Diaz has two years remaining on his deal, having joined Liverpool from Porto in January of 2022 for £49m. He has scored 41 goals in 148 appearances across all competitions for the Reds, winning the Premier League, the FA Cup and two League Cups.

Diaz has said he is happy to stay at Liverpool for the remainder of this contract while also admitting to talking to other clubs. So far no agreement has been reached on a new deal at Anfield.

Liverpool have also turned down approaches from Barcelona and Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr as they see Diaz as key part of the squad.

Unconfirmed reports have linked Liverpool with a move for Real Madrid star Rodrygo should Diaz depart the club.
