Miami Heat trade for premier scorer in 3-team trade involving 5x All-Star

The Miami Heat go big-game hunting seemingly each offseason. Though, this time, their pursuit of roster upgrades felt nearly guaranteed after they dealt Jimmy Butler away ahead of last season’s NBA trade deadline.

While the Heat haven’t been able to secure another star to play next to Bam Adebayo, they did just make a significant upgrade to the roster.

According to [ESPN’s NBA insider Shams Charania](https://x.com/ShamsCharania/status/1942226949453103199), the Heat, Los Angeles Clippers, and Utah Jazz have just agreed to a three-team trade. Here are the details.

* **Heat receive:** Norman Powell

* **Clippers receive:** John Collins

* **Jazz receive:** Kevin Love, Kyle Anderson, 2027 Jazz second-round pick

Sure, Miami didn’t add an All-Star to their lineup, but Powell is still quite good. Twice a finalist to win the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award, Powell stepped into a starting role for the Clippers last season and averaged a career-high 21.8 points per game across 60 starts.

Some might argue that John Collins is the most exciting piece of this trade, which is why the Clippers had to part with a valuable chip in Powell. Collins, 27, gives the Clippers an athletic lob threat, but he also had impressive averages of 19 PPG to go with 8.2 rebounds per contest last season with Utah.

Then, the Jazz acquired future trade chips. Love is a five-time All-Star, but the 36-year-old becomes an immediate buyout candidate in Utah. He’ll likely seek an opportunity to compete for what would be his second championship ring on another contender.
