Patrick Mahomes Realization Hits NFL Fans Hard on Monday

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs failed to complete their Super Bowl three-peat bid last season, falling to the Philadelphia Eagles in the title game, 40-22.

The Chiefs QB threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns on 21-of-32 pass completion, but he also committed two turnovers.

Sure enough, Mahomes and the rest of the Chiefs are heading into the 2025 campaign with plenty of motivation. The 29-year-old signal-caller himself emphasized that his goal for the new season is to "get a Super Bowl win."

As Mahomes prepares for another grueling year, however, fans couldn't help but be surprised by the fact that he's actually entering his ninth year in the NFL. The former Texas Tech Red Raiders standout was drafted 10th overall by the Chiefs back in 2017.

Fans made their feelings known in the comments section of the Chiefs' "roll call" post, where Mahomes emphasized he's nearing 10 years in the NFL.

"9th year?! No way.. wow," a commenter wrote.

Another one exclaimed, "His 9th year!!??? [Expletive]."

"You mean Patrick has been in the league longer than Minshew?????" a fan added, referencing Chiefs backup QB Gardner Minshew, who arrived in the NFL in 2019.

"Year 9?" a surprised commenter stated. Another follower echoed a similarly shocked reaction, writing, "What do you mean it’s Mahomes 9th year…"

"9th year," a sixth poster shared while including a pensive face emoji.
