Josh Jacobs proved himself worthy of the contract the Green Bay Packers gave him in 2024 with an excellent first season with the team.
Following the departure of Aaron Jones, the Packers found someone to cover the big void in the ground attack by inking Jacobs to a $48 million contract. With Jacobs, Green Bay had a legitimate weapon in the rushing attack who complemented the Jordan Love-led passing game.
The Packers were sixth in the league in 2024 with an average of 144.6 rushing yards per game, thanks in large part to Jacobs’ legs. In a much better offensive environment than the one he had in 2023 with the Las Vegas Raiders, Jacobs rushed for 1,329 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Green Bay gave him a ton of touches, 301 in total out of the backfield. He also helped out in the passing game with 342 receiving yards and a touchdown on 36 catches.

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs (8) scores a touchdown on seven yard run during the third quarter of their game Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Solider Field in Chicago, Illinois. The Green Bay Packers beat the Chicago Bears 20-19.
Jacobs, who will turn 28 years old next February, recently earned a high spot on ESPN’s top 10 list of running backs entering the training camp and the 2025 NFL season. More than his talents, Jacobs was also praised by an NFL executive for his durability, having not missed a game in 2024.
“Elite balance, strength, vision, feet and determination with the ball in his hands,” said an NFC personnel executive about the former Alabama Crimson Tide star tailback. “He catches it well. True difference-maker. And he plays every week. Availability. I tend to lean toward well-rounded backs that are elite runners and huge threats in the passing game and Jacobs fits that bill.”
One can expect Jacobs to continue dominating the carries for the Packers’ running back room, as he looks to sustain his form and make a bigger impact on Green Bay’s offense.
