Man United flop keen to stay at Old Trafford

Manchester United begin their pre-season preparations with a friendly against fierce rivals Leeds United later this month.

The Red Devils finished 15th in the Premier League table after a disastrous campaign last season, and therefore won’t compete in Europe next time around.

Ruben Amorim may only have taken charge of United in November, but the Portuguese is already under pressure to turn his side’s fortunes around after a disastrous debut campaign in England.

United have already added Mathsu Cunha to Amorim’s squad ahead of the new season, but it remains to be seen whether or not any other new signings will arrive at Old Trafford this summer.

Now, though, it has emerged that one of United’s attackers is keen to stay put.

According to Fabrizio Romano, striker Rasmus Hojlund is intent on staying put at Old Trafford despite his underwhelming spell in England so far.

Hojlund, 22, had played just 34 times for previous club Atalanta when Manchester United agreed to pay a fee of more than £70 million to sign the forward in 2023.

Since his move, the Dane has struggled in front of goal and has scored just 26 goals in 95 games for the Red Devils across all competitions, including 14 goals in 62 Premier League matches.

The Denmark international’s poor form had seen him heavily linked with a move away from United, but Romano claims that the player himself is intent on staying at his current club.

Italian giants Inter Milan are said to be interested in the striker, who scored ten goals in 34 games for Atalanta during a previous spell in Italy.

Romano claims that, at present, the player is set to stay at Old Trafford unless those in charge of United change their stance and decide to push ahead with selling the player.
