Report: Newcastle make offer to sign 'exceptional' Serie A star for Howe

Newcastle are showing strong interest in Fiorentina midfielder Amir Richardson this summer, AfricaFoot has claimed.

The Magpies reportedly saw their initial €5m offer rejected for the 22-year-old talent and are believed to be preparing an improved bid to lure Richardson to the Premier League in the coming weeks.

The Morocco international has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe after a promising season in Italy, although Fiorentina would only consider a sale at a price 'significantly' higher than Newcastle’s initial offer.

Richardson only joined the Serie A club last summer from French side Stade Reims and has four years left on his contract, which runs until June 2029.

According to AfricaFoot, Fiorentina consider Richardson a key part of their project and intend to keep him this summer, despite growing interest from Newcastle.

The ‘exceptional’ central midfielder was a regular squad player last season, making 26 Serie A appearances, 10 of which were starts, and registered two goal contributions in his final two games.

Richardson spent his entire professional career in France before moving to Fiorentina and has amassed close to 100 appearances across France’s top two divisions.

Newcastle have already welcomed promising 18-year-old winger Antonio Cordero as their first summer signing and remain on the lookout for further upgrades to Eddie Howe’s attacking options.

According to reports, the Magpies are now targeting a right-sided winger and have identified Nottingham Forest ace Anthony Elanga as their top option.

Newcastle submitted a second bid worth around £55m for the Swedish attacker last week and view him as a player who can significantly improve their frontline.
