Leeds United are reportedly close to finalising the transfer of LOSC Lille left-back Gabriel Gudmundsson.

Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has reviewed his fitness history ahead of his pre-transfer medical.

Last season, the 26-year-old made 45 appearances for his side in all competitions, including nine in the Champions League.

Gudmundsson expected to clear medical

The Sweden international’s availability and lack of serious injuries in recent years suggest he’s not likely to face any issues with his medical, according to Dr Brar.

Gudmundsson has jetted into England as he appears set to move to West Yorkshire in the coming days. (Yorkshire Post, page 21, July 7)

Leeds United must now finalise the Gudmundsson deal

Gudmundsson is an ideal left-back signing for Leeds United due to his extensive experience and versatility.

With 137 appearances for LOSC Lille in Ligue 1, he brings a proven track record across competitive leagues.

His defensive solidity, combined with attacking contributions, aligns with Leeds’ high-energy, pressing style under Daniel Farke.

Gudmundsson’s adaptability to various tactical systems, including his time in the Eredivisie and Ligue 1, suggests he can handle the Premier League’s physicality and pace.

At 26, his peak years ensure immediate impact, making him a reliable upgrade over Junior Firpo.

It’s essential that the Elland Road outfit now finalise his transfer by conducting his medical and then making an official announcement.
