Report: Club could now hand Manchester City their £15m diamond likened to Wayne Rooney in bid…

Jack Grealish still finds himself in limbo at Manchester City.

The England international was not included in the FIFA Club World Cup squad, and Pep Guardiola has already basically said his farewells to the Aston Villa academy graduate, wishing him “all the best” in his next venture away from the Etihad Stadium.

A return to Villa Park has actually been mooted, and Caught Offside now state that Aston Villa are considering a deal for Jack Grealish which would see Morgan Rogers move to Manchester City.

Aston Villa could include Morgan Rogers in Jack Grealish bid

Caught Offside now claim that the Villans are holding internal discussions over whether to include the England international – who they signed from Middlesbrough for £15m in January 2024 – in a move for the Manchester City No.10 this summer.

Manchester City hope to receive £40m for Grealish – who once said he would like a return to Aston Villa.

Saudi Pro League outfits Al-Ahli, Al-Hilal and Neom SC are ready to meet that asking price and also make the 29-year-old one of the best paid footballers on the planet, although Tottenham, Newcastle and Everton are monitoring the situation too.

If this is true, Manchester City should jump at the chance, but Aston Villa rumour is surely nonsense

The Daily Mail have claimed that Aston Villa deem Rogers to be a £100m player in the current market, so in that respect, why would they be willing to include him in a deal for Grealish, valued at £40m?

It is a nonsensical rumour in every sense of the word, but if it is true for whatever reason, Manchester City should be all over it.

Rogers – who Glenn Hoddle compared to Wayne Rooney – is a rising star in football at the age of 22, scoring 14 goals and providing 15 assists in 54 appearances across all competitions last season, including a strike in the UEFA Champions League at PSG.

The Aston Villa No.27 also won six caps for England last term.

Manchester City actually sold Rogers to Middlesbrough in 2023, so if a return to the Etihad Stadium does happen, it would be a romantic development.
