Alejandro Garnacho is free to leave Manchester United
When rejected an offer from Napoli for Alejandro Garnacho worth £40million, they would have done so with a feeling of insult. Fast forward six months and that proposal does not look completely unreasonable.
. After being dropped from the Manchester derby win in December for his attitude, the forward did return to the team for the end of the season.
However, with the 2024/25 season over, Garnacho is expected to leave the club this summer.
Out of the five, which includes Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia, Garnacho represents the most important deal for United. Not only is he the most valuable of the players but his sale would also count as pure profit.
The issue currently is that United and Garnacho are far from entertaining a bidding war for the forward. A host of clubs have been linked with the winger in some capacity, including Atletico Madrid, Napoli, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Juventus.
When , Garnacho's valuation was estimated to be just over £82m by the CIES Football Observatory. Antonio Conte's men decided against replacing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia with Garnacho due to United's valuation.
£40m could be enough for Garnacho to leave this summer. Reports towards the end of June suggested the Reds would be willing to accept £45m for the forward. However, a move to the Italian champions is now seriously unlikely.
Napoli are close to completing the signing of PSV Eindhoven star Noa Lang for just €28m (£24m). The Netherlands international is set to sign a long-term contract in Naples with an agreement finally reached between the two clubs.
Lang joins Kevin De Bruyne and Luca Marianucci as Napoli's summer signings. A move to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium now seems unlikely for Garnacho. The dream of staying in the Premier League remains but even that, remains just a dream.
