Will Blackmon officially joins ‘Good Morning Football’ for 2025 season

Good Morning Football, the NFL Network’s flagship morning show, is shaking up its lineup once again ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Since relocating to Los Angeles, GMFB has seen some notable departures — Peter Schrager exited, and Akbar Gbajabiamila left after just one season. That opened the door for Manti Te’o to join full-time, and now another former NFL player is officially stepping into the fold.

Will Blackmon will be joining the Good Morning Football roster as an on-air contributor for the entire 2025-26 NFL season.

Blackmon, who has already filled in during GMFB’s transition period alongside a rotating cast of analysts, impressed enough with his auditions and contributions, especially during the network’s NFL Draft coverage, to earn a permanent spot.

The 40-year-old Blackmon last played in the NFL with the Washington Commanders (2015-16) but last played professional football with the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2018. Originally a fourth-round pick out of Boston College, he spent more than a decade as a hard-hitting safety. Along the way, he won Super Bowl XLVI with the New York Giants and had stops with the Green Bay Packers (who drafted him), Jacksonville Jaguars, and multiple stints on the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad.

Since hanging up his cleats, Blackmon has reinvented himself multiple times: launching his own podcast, founding the Blackmon Football Academy, earning the rare distinction of Master Sommelier while running a wine concierge service, and carving out a niche as an NFL analyst on FS1 and NFL Network.

On AA’s Short & To The Point podcast over two years ago, Blackmon opened up about the challenges of transitioning from player to broadcaster.

“I would say the challenging part is when you’re in studio,” said Blackmon. “Because everything’s produced. You have a limited amount of time. You gotta get to your talking points. You can’t really elaborate on what you really want to say because you don’t have that much time. Or the topic doesn’t allow you to do that.”

He’ll now be in the studio bringing that same perspective to GMFB every week this upcoming season.
