Man United are hoping to add a number nine this summer as they aim to replace Rasmus Hojlund.

Ruben Amorim’s summer transfer window is arguably Manchester United’s most important in the past few years, and one of the key positions of interest is the striker spot. After a year where Rasmus Hojlund scored just four Premier League goals, Amorim is looking to replace the 22-year-old.

Victor Osimhen “intends” to play for Galatasaray rather than Man United

Another striker who has been linked with Man United this summer is Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, who was on loan at Turkish side Galatasaray last season. He is set to leave Napoli permanently with a release clause of £64.7m. Osimhen has generated interest from Premier League clubs Man United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal, but it seems that the chances of him coming to England are less and less likely.

According to Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport, Osimhen “intends” to play at Galatasaray next season after rejecting a €40m per year salary at Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, who offered an €160m transfer fee to sign the 26-year-old earlier in the transfer window.

The report says that Osimhen’s options in the Premier League have decreased, and that a move to Galatasaray is now the most likely, as long as the Turkish club can afford to offer Napoli’s asking price for the Nigerian. Last season, he was excellent for Galatasaray, making 41 appearances and managing to score 37 goals and provide eight assists, helping the Turkish side to a double of domestic competitions.

Man United will need to prioritise other targets now, as it looks as though a move for Osimhen is increasingly unlikely. Plus, with a Gyokeres deal all but impossible, Amorim may have to find new transfer targets for the striker spot.

Who else could Man United target?

Alongside Watkins, Man United could also make a move to sign Fiorentina striker Moise Kean, who was the second-top scorer in the Serie A last season. He made 32 league appearances, scoring 19 goals.

Kean has a £45m release clause in his contract; however, Saudi Pro League side Al Qasdiah have offered him a £250,000 per week offer, which he could be tempted by due to his current wage of just over £50,000 per week. It hasn’t been reported whether Kean would consider moving to Saudi Arabia or staying in Europe.
