Former Razorback Adou Thiero signs contract with Los Angeles Lakers

FAYETTEVILLE — Former Arkansas men’s basketball forward Adou Thiero signed a three-year, $5.95 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, according to a report from USA Today. The deal includes two guaranteed years, with a team option for a third year.

Thiero will miss the NBA Summer League as he recovers from the hyperextended left knee that forced him to miss 8 of the Razorbacks’ final 9 games but is expected to be healthy for preseason training camp.

The Lakers selected Thiero with the No. 36 overall pick in the NBA Draft on June 26, with the pick being acquired in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets.

Thiero, who is listed at 6-foot-8 and 220 pounds, led the Razorbacks in scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.1 and 5.8, respectively.

The Lakers finished third in the Western Conference with a 50-32 record. They were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
