And no, before you ask, it isn’t Callum Wilson. I don’t think I could bring myself to write it even if it were true, such is the vitriol that’d be heading the way of the club and the author of the article. Having been hyper-critical of the mere suggestion of the out-of-contract Wilson coming south to West Ham, I’m not going to suggest it is happening any day soon.
But it is someone older than Callum Wilson. Older even than Mikey Antonio.
*From londonworld.com this evening comes the somewhat surprising news that Jamie Vardy’s planned move to Italian Serie A side is ‘off:’*

“According to La Repubblica, [ Italian media outlet], Jamie Vardy had agreed to join Genoa only for head coach Patrick Vieira to veto the move despite claims of an external investor providing the finances for the deal.” Their article:
“Door opens for West Ham United to sign Jamie Vardy” claims the outlet. I’ve read the report a few times and it turns out there’s no substance to the report other than ‘West Ham needing a striker and Vardy needing a club’.
But then it does provoke the thought that as a third or fourth choice short-term fix, would Vardy be so bad? Certainly appealing to David Sullivan’s money men without a transfer fee, one of the Premier League’s record scorers waiting for a 20 minute cameo if needed could give West Ham an extra dimension and kick the ‘£20 million’ cost of a younger player a year down the road.
Stranger things happen at West Ham.
