Manchester United could be about to receive a healthy £30m windfall from Mason Greenwood.

Greenwood, 23, left Old Trafford in July last year and has since turned out to be quite the success over in France. The Bradford-born striker scored 22 goals for Ligue 1 giants Marseille last season as Roberto De Zerbi's side finished 2nd in the French first tier.

Greenwood is now set to play UEFA Champions League football once again in 2025/26, and his performances haven't gone unnoticed.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli have submitted a bid worth €70m (£60m) for the former United forward.

The bonus for INEOS and United is that they included a 50% sell-on clause in Greenwood's contract with Marseille, and would therefore be entitled to half of the transfer fee paid.

The 23-year-old is said to be happy in France, but the riches promised in the Middle East are enough to turn even the most talented of footballers.

Al-Alhi boasts ex-Premier League stars Riyad Mahrez, Ivan Toney and Roberto Firmino in their ranks at present, as well as former Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

Marseille are reluctant to sell Greenwood given his performances last season, and the fact that United would be entitled to such a huge chunk of the transfer has deterred their interest in a deal.

"I hope to be here next year and play in the Champions League," Greenwood said when asked about his future in France back in May. "Players have told me it's special to play here.

"I think it's been a very positive season, we've reached our objective. I recently had a baby here with my girlfriend, I feel at home here, it is a very special place.

"Not a lot of people get to come to Marseille and get to experience playing for this amazing football club.

'I am happy and with the goals I have scored this season, it is a big achievement for me and with the players and staff we have here, anything is possible."
