Manchester United have called off what has been deemed a 'record-breaking' deal to capture behind-the-scenes footage via an Amazon series, according to reports - after manager Ruben Amorim opposed such a digital invitation into the club's operations.
Amazon have previously had big success with the likes of rivals Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in terms of 'access-all-areas' footage, with clips still being shown to this day of memorable moments - good and bad - for the Premier League trio. The same could have happened at United, according to David Ornstein, with the club having held secret talks with Amazon for a huge fee to capture the trials and tribulations of next season, which would be Amorim's first full season as gaffer, having only joined in November.

However, his report on The Athletic states that the club have withdrawn from talks after concluding that it could distract from the progress of the first-team. The report by Ornstein states that United have ended 'secret talks' over a record-breaking Amazon series.
The deal, which could have brought in well in excess of £10million, is off after months of talks between the Red Devils and Jeff Bezos' mammoth company. It's thought that boss Amorim was opposed to any documentary, and United chiefs are aligned with that as their financial decision, alongside footballing and commercial timing, being amongst the reasons for the breakdown in talks, which went on for months.
United's most senior executives were across the discussions, but the plug was pulled earlier this summer having received feedback from the Portuguese tactician, with the recommendation to drop the idea.
