Manchester United are still yet to sign a striker this summer and the latest name being linked with a move is Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The summer started with Liam Delap rejecting Manchester United in favour of a move to Chelsea, and that immediately threw a spanner in Ineos’ transfer plan.
Now, Viktor Gyokeres is close to joining Arsenal, meaning United have now missed out on what was likely their top two striker targets heading into the window.
The only signing completed so far is Matheus Cunha and talks are ongoing for Bryan Mbeumo. While both of those players can play up front, ideally Ruben Amorim will want a new striker to lead the line next season.
This week’s reports have seen United linked with Dominic Calvert-Lewin following his release from Everton this summer.

Fabrizio Romano issues Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Man United update
United’s interest in Calvert-Lewin dates back to 2020 when he was considered a target under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The English striker was valued at £50m back then, but is now available as a free agent. While other striker targets have proven too expensive for United this summer, Calvert-Lewin would arrive without a fee.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now issued a new update on Calvert-Lewin’s future, and he insists the only development is that the player has been offered to United this summer.

As per GiveMeSport, Romano said: “He’s been offered to Manchester United as well as to many other clubs, but there are no more updates at the moment.”
Romano’s update suggests there is nothing advanced whatsoever when it comes to Calvert-Lewin and United. He is simply considering his options and his team have offered him to United.
Ineos must be more ambitious than Dominic Calvert-Lewin
United are finding it harder than expected to do transfer business this summer with no European football on offer and a restricted budget.
Cunha is a strong start and Mbeumo would be a fantastic signing, but a new centre-forward will then be a top priority.
Ineos are leading a new rebuild under Amorim and signing a player who has just been released by Everton isn’t the kind of ambition that fans want to see.
United will have to be patient if they want to spend more this summer. The sales of Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Antony will be key to any further incomings.

The likes of Hugo Ekitike, Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Sesko are all still available this summer, and leading the line of a new-look United side will appeal to strikers.
Calvert-Lewin would be a panic signing from Ineos, and it would certainly not stick to their transfer philosophy of buying young and exciting players.
