Bayern Munich have a Manchester United star on their radar this summer, with the Red Devils hoping to sell.
Bayern Munich are now reportedly keen on a Man United player, with Vincent Kompany looking to improve his side after winning the Bundesliga in his maiden season as Bayern manager.
Bayern wants to sign Marcus Rashford
The German giants suffered a major blow recently as winger Jamal Musiala suffered a horrific injury in the Club World Cup. He will be out for at least four months with a fractured fibula, according to Sky Sports. Manager Kompany will now need to consider finding a replacement for the German international.
According to German outlet cfBayernInsider, Bayern Munich are interested in signing Marcus Rashford this summer as a cheaper alternative to several of their other winger targets. The report says that Man United could sell Rashford for as little as £38m, and that Bayern are enticed by his relatively cheap price.
Seeing as Musiala is out for an extended period, as Bayern also saw the departures of Leroy Sane and Thomas Muller, signing a versatile attacker is one of the club’s main priorities this summer.
With a move to Barcelona looking less likely due to the Spanish club’s interest in Liverpool’s Diaz, it could open up a path for Bayern to sign Rashford as United are desperate to sell him permanently, to help fund their own transfer business.
There has been no reported move to sign Rashford from Bayern, but they are seriously considering opening talks to sign the 27-year-old. The England international could finally get his move away from Old Trafford.
Harry Kane hails Rashford’s Aston Villa loan move
Rashford returned to Man United after a short spell on loan at Aston Villa. He saw somewhat of a resurgence in his form, scoring two goals and providing four assists for Unai Emery’s side.
After his form improved, Thomas Tuchel selected Rashford for his first England squad in March, something that pleased England captain and Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane. If Rashford was to join Bayern Munich, Kane would likely be very pleased with the move.
Kane told beIN Sports earlier this year, Kane said: “It’s great to have him back. He’s obviously gone to Aston Villa, he’s had a fresh start and you can see he’s got fresh energy and even just in training he’s been fantastic so far. So we know what Marcus can bring and how good he can be when he’s fully flying and fully fit and that’s what he’s been showing at Aston Villa.”
