Report: Moyes learns £21.5m maestro now wants PL move as Everton eye potential game-changing…

Everton are looking to bolster their pool of midfield options – and Douglas Luiz is thought to be a target.

The expectation is that Everton will now become busy in the incomings front, after a month of players announcing they are leaving.

There’s been a high turnover of players so far, but the good news is that Idrissa Gana Gueye and Michael Keane have both signed new contracts, as has Jarrad Branthwaite.

Attention will now turn to new players coming in.

Thierno Barry’s move to Everton should be announced very soon, with the striker having agreed personal terms.

Everton also want to sign a new midfielder this summer, having lost Abdoulaye Doucoure and Orel Mangala.

Everton were recently linked with Douglas Luiz – and one update tonight will give David Moyes some encouragement.

Luiz is set to leave Juventus after a poor 2024/25.

He joined them a year ago from Aston Villa for over £40 million, but it just hasn’t worked out for him in Italy, with injuries not helping his cause.

And predictably, he is not short of options.

According to TEAMtalk, Everton are interested in the Brazilian maestro, but Fulham and Manchester United are also keen. United’s interest though is not particularly strong.

Everton must elbow aside competition for Douglas Luiz

Everton should go all out to sign Douglas Luiz from Juventus this summer.

It hasn’t happened for him in Italy and seemingly Juve are quite happy to move him on after just one year.

We know that Luiz is a proven player in the Premier League.

His final season at Villa before leaving for Turin was excellent, and he would bring energy, tenacity and technicality to Everton’s engine room.

He would also bring some balance, being left-footed. Quite possibly, if Everton can snag Luiz, a Brazil international who is just coming into his prime, for just over £20 million, then it could be a real game-changer of a signing.

Everton fans would love to see Luiz join, and it would be a statement of intent from The Friedkin Group, so hopefully we do see Everton intensify their pursuit in the coming days.
