Newcastle United have FINALLY made a breakthrough in the summer transfer window.
In a ‘here we go’ update from Fabrizio Romano on Monday night, he reveals that Newcastle and Nottingham Forest have now come to a final agreement over a deal worth £55m.
Romano also reports that personal terms are all agreed, with the Swedish international set to sign a long-term contract at St James’ Park.
The 23-year-old is currently in Portugal doing one-to-one training sessions, but a medical is due to be scheduled to allow the winger to complete his move from Nottingham Forest to Newcastle United, as Craig Hope reports.
Elanga has been a long-term target of Eddie Howe’s, with the club launching a deadline day bid last August and engaging in talks with Forest earlier this year.
But, third time lucky, it seems Newcastle have finally got their man, with Elanga set to arrive after an impressive season at the City Ground saw him bag six goals and 12 assists last term.
Speaking in September 2024 about Newcastle’s interest, Elanga said: “Isak talked to me about it (the Newcastle bids). I’m focusing on Nottingham and then we’ll see what happens.”
“We have a good relationship and good chemistry when we play together. But I have a contract with Nottingham.”
“It’s clear that Newcastle are interested, it means that I am playing good football when a big club shows interest.”
