Blackburn Rovers reject Arsenal bid for forward

Arsenal’s opening bid for Blackburn Rovers forward Igor Tyjon has been turned down, though it’s been suggested they’re open to a deal at the right price.

Alan Nixon reports on his Patreon that Arsenal have had their opening bid for young Blackburn Rovers forward Igor Tyjon turned down, having offer around £1m plus add-ons for the 17-year-old.

Nixon reported over a month ago that Arsenal were offering that package for the teenager, adding that Rovers are open to a sale. But he clarified that it would only be for the right price, and the club would want to bring in as much as possible for the transfer.

£1m plus add-ons evidently wasn’t enough to convince the Championship club to part ways. We’ll have to see if the Gunners now return with a second bid.

Tyjon is an England youth player also eligible for Poland. He’s represented the Poland u16s in the past, but he made the switch back to the England u17s last September. He primarily operates at centre-forward, but he’s also played on the wings at times.

Arsenal would have got a good look at the youngster during those England appearances, playing alongside their own star talent Max Dowman, as well as youth goalkeeper and recent Gunners first-team debutant Jack Porter.

Stepping up into the Blackburn Rovers u21 side this season, Tyjon scored four goals in seven Premier League 2 appearances, and he even made his first-team debut with a couple of substitute showings in the Championship.

Arsenal have evidently taken notice of that progress, and they’re now looking to add him to their own academy ranks.

With the likes of Khayon Edwards and Nathan Butler-Oyedeji leaving for new clubs this summer, there’s an opening for a youth forward at Arsenal.
