After closing out the 2024 season strong with the Washington Commanders, Dyami Brown saw an opportunity to take his career to the next level.
The wide receiver finished with the second-most playoff receiving yards for Washington, then signed a one-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a free agent, hoping for a bigger opportunity to showcase his abilities.
Based on his performance in OTAs and minicamp, that decision appears to be paying off.
New Jacksonville head coach Liam Coen is envisioning a far more expanded role for Brown than what he had in Washington.
> “You look at somebody that’s able to attack the field at all three levels,” Coen [said](https://www.espn.in/nfl/story/_/id/45598505/jaguars-receiver-dyami-brown-excited-breakout-elite-wr-group#:~:text=%22You%20look%20at,he%20can%20do.), via ESPN. “He can go down the field on the post, in the go, in the pylons and be the top shelf, but also you can throw him a screen and he can go and do something with it. I can’t coach that. I can’t coach you to go and make three people miss after you’ve caught the ball. … That’s what he can do.”
After a standout college career at North Carolina, Washington selected Brown in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Over his first three seasons, he never found consistent footing, managing just 29 receptions.
That changed during the 2024 campaign, with 30 regular-season receptions followed by a three-game playoff surge of 14 catches for 229 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Now part of a revamped receiving corps alongside Brian Thomas Jr. and electric rookie Travis Hunter, Brown has a legitimate opportunity to thrive.
With opposing defenses focusing on the other two threats, Brown should benefit from favorable matchups in single coverage.
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence reportedly has quickly built chemistry with Brown on intermediate routes and praised his feel for zone coverage and high football IQ.
