Man United interested in£35 million Chelsea star

Chelsea will bid to reach the FIFA Club World Cup final when they face Fluminense on Tuesday evening.

The Blues have already faced fellow Brazilian sides Flamengo and Palmeiras in the tournament so far, beating the latter 2-1 in the quarter-finals last time out.

Enzo Maresca’s side have not been at their best for much of the competition so far, but the West London giants will undoubtedly fancy their chances of defeating Fluminense and reaching the final in New York on Sunday.

This summer has already been a busy one for Chelsea in the transfer market, with several players having already arrived at Stamford Bridge in recent weeks.

The Blues are likely to have to offload a number of players in the coming weeks, though, and it has now emerged that one of their fiercest rivals are interested in one of their current crop of attackers.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes via CaughtOffside, Manchester United are showing interest in Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku.

The report claims that the Frenchman could be available for a fee of around £35 million this summer, despite costing the Blues £52 million just two years ago.

Nkunku, 27, joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig in 2023, having registered a combined 126 goals and assists in 172 matches for the German side.

The forward suffered with injuries during his first season in London, making just 14 appearances across all competitions.

Last term he struggled to establish himself as a regular in the Premier League in Maresca’s side, with most of his playing time coming in the domestic cup competitions and the Europa Conference League.

In total Nkunku scored 15 times in 46 games, but the report claims that Chelsea are prepared to allow the striker to leave for the right price this summer.

According to the report, the two clubs are currently in the early stages of negotiations over a possible deal, with the Red Devils said to be confident about their chances of reaching an agreement to sign Nkunku.
