Over recent years, Manchester United have gone through a considerable number of coaching staff, having two different sets of coaches for Erik ten Hag alone.
Since Sir Alex Ferguson retired from the manager role at Old Trafford in 2013, The Red Devils have gone through six permanent managers, with even more changes with key roles like assistant managers and coaches in specific roles.
Looking at goalkeeper coaches, United have had eight since Ferguson’s main man Eric Steele, including Chris Woods, Silvino, Craig Mawson and Jelle ten Rouwelaar.

Now, one of the Red Devils’ former goalkeeping coaches is set for a job with Persepolis in the Persian Gulf Pro League in Iran.
Taking to X, the Iranian club announced former United goalkeeping coach Emilio Alvarez, commenting a simple: “Emilio Álvarez, the new goalkeeping coach of Persepolis”.
Alvarez was brought to Old Trafford by Jose Mourinho back in 2016 from Atletico Madrid, remain with United beyond Mourinho’s departure into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tenure.

However, Alvarez brings a whole wealth of experience to Persepolis beyond his time at Old Trafford, having also been a part of the coaching setups at Valencia, Benfica and Atletico Madrid.
Since his time with United, the 53-year-old has stepped away from Europe’s top clubs, joining United Arab Emirates side Al-Wasl and Iranian side Tractor.
Now, Persepolis are looking to reclaim their thrown as Iranian champions after coming third last season to Alvarez’s then-team, Tractor FC.
However, Persepolis are the record-holding club in the Persian Gulf Pro League, having lifted the trophy 16 times, including seven times in the last 10 years.
