Oasis Pays Tribute to Soccer Star Diogo Jota With Special Performance of “Live Forever”

On July 3rd, the soccer world lost a star when Diogo Jota sadly passed away following a car crash. A forward for Liverpool, the athlete was traveling to Santander, Spain in hopes of catching a ferry back to England for pre-season training. Although he would normally fly, Jota recently underwent a minor lung surgery, causing doctors to advise him not to take a plane. Following their advice, he and his brother decided to drive in their Lamborghini. Sadly, the car crashed due to a tire blowout. With numerous stars like LeBron James honoring the soccer player, Oasis took a moment during their recent concert to pay tribute to Jota.

For fans of Oasis, they might know that Liam and Noel Gallagher are not Liverpool fans. They have expressed their love for Manchester United before. But when it came to the legacy of Jota, they didn’t care about the team more than the player. Seeing the massive impact losing a star like Jota caused the soccer community, the brothers wanted to shine a light on the player.

With over 70,000 people in attendance, Oasis believed it was the best moment to remember the player who dedicated his life to the sport. Placing an image of Jota on the massive screen behind them, the brothers performed their 1994 hit song “Live Forever.”

Looking at the comments, fans loved the special moment Oasis offered Jota, writing, “I’ve been in bits for two days, this would have finished me off. Well done lads, see ya at Wembley in 3 weeks.” Another person added, “Class from the lads. When sadness hits, teams don’t matter, football is united.”

Among the messages of love and support from fans, one person happened to share the final goal Jota scored, which took place in April when Liverpool faced Everton.
