Manchester United could be in for a welcome cash injection thanks to a hefty transfer deal brewing elsewhere in the Premier League.

United are keen to bolster their ranks with fresh faces before the September 1 deadline. So far, Matheus Cunha is the only new lad on board, but Ruben Amorim and United are still scouring the market for more additions in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, other big moves are happening across the Premier League, away from Old Trafford. One such deal involves ex-United starlet Anthony Elanga, who's poised to sign with a new club.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Newcastle have struck a deal to nab Elanga from Nottingham Forest, with a rumoured price tag of around £55million. If this deal goes through, it'll mean a financial uplift for United.

Elanga bid farewell to United to join Forest back in the summer of 2023 for £15million. The agreement included a sell-on clause worth 20 per cent of any profit from future transfers - which could now see United pocket several million quid to beef up their transfer funds.

If Elanga's move to Newcastle does go ahead - at the quoted price - United would bag a cool £8million, thanks to the £40million profit Forest would make from the sale, reports the Manchester Evening News.

An additional £8million could significantly bolster United's transfer kitty - especially in their pursuit of Mbeumo.

The Reds have seen two bids for the Cameroon international knocked back by Brentford, with the latest exceeding £60million.

Despite their second offer falling short of Brentford's asking price for the striker, United remain optimistic about landing Mbeumo this summer.

This comes as Ruben Amorim will feel like he’s having the last laugh on those Manchester United rebels who want to leave.

Blocking them from returning to training because he can’t stand the sight of them is a bold move. And it’s a brave one, too. Because it’s also one now in danger of blowing up in his face. The Portuguese is becoming increasingly frustrated with the summer so far.

If he’s not careful, he will discover to his cost that the likes of Marcus Rashford & Co will be laughing the loudest and longest.
