The Washington Wizards unveiled their Summer League roster Monday, featuring seven different first-round picks and eight total players selected in the last two drafts.
The Summer League allows rookies and second-year players to compete against each other, gaining extra developmental time with coaches during the week-long event.
Young Wizards like Alex Sarr, Bub Carrington, Kyshawn George, Tre Johnson, A.J. Johnson and Will Riley headline this year’s Summer League squad.
Sarr, the No. 2 pick in the 2024 draft, made headlines at last year’s Summer League when he missed 15 consecutive shots in a game, including seven three-pointers.
This year’s group will be coached by J.J. Outlaw, who just completed his first season as an assistant to Wizards coach Brian Keefe.
Outlaw was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as a wide receiver in 2007 before transitioning to work as a video coordinator and player development coach for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2011.
The Wizards open Summer League action on Friday night against the Phoenix Suns. Washington will also play against the Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers and Utah Jazz.
A fifth game will be scheduled later.
