With the transfer window open and fixtures confirmed, excitement is building for the new season of Fantasy Premier League, but when does the 2025/26 FPL season launch?
Another incredible FPL season came and went during the 2024/25 campaign, with Liverpool's Mohamed Salah everyone's go-to captain, with the Egyptian stealing the headlines once again. Salah broke the record for most FPL points in a season in February, with the Liverpool winger ending the season on a whopping 344 points - 100 more than the previous season's best, Cole Palmer (244).
It was the fourth time the Egyptian was the highest-scoring player in an FPL season, but as well as Salah, some new big-hitters impressed, including Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo, with the winger ending the season with 33.7 points per million spent. But now, players are starting to look ahead to the 2025/26 FPL campaign, thinking about who can be in their team, who will be their GW1 captain, but most importantly, what is the FPL start date?
Fantasy Premier League (FPL) 2025/26 start date
We're currently in early July, which means we are yet to get any sort of official start date for the 2025/26 Fantasy Premier League season from the Premier League. But, based on the start dates over the last few years, we expect the 2025/26 FPL season to begin on Wednesday, July 16.
FPL has launched on a Wednesday in mid-July for the last two years, so based on these dates, July 16 could be when we can start building our FPL teams for the 2025/26 campaign.
The summer transfer window for the Premier League is now open, with teams able to buy and sell players now until Monday, September 1, when the transfer window officially closes. So, when building your teams, keep an eye out on the transfer market to make sure you aren't missing out on new arrivals or players that are being sold.
The Premier League confirmed the fixtures for the 2025/26 season in June, with the first game between Bournemouth and Liverpool taking place at 8pm on Friday, August 15. The deadline to finalise your FPL team has been 90 minutes before the first game of the gameweek over the last few years, and we expect this to stay the same, meaning the FPL GW1 deadline should be 6:30pm BST on Friday, August 15.
This means, if FPL launches when we expect, players should have just under a month to start building and perfecting their FPL teams for next season, but let's be honest, most of us will be using our Wildcard chip by GW5. Ahead of the FPL launch date, the Premier League tends to build up hype by releasing player prices for the upcoming FPL season.
For the 2024/25 season, the Premier League revealed 20 player prices in total, including one player from each Premier League team and the most-expensive player, who last season was Erling Haaland (£15.0m). We expect that Haaland could drop to £14.5m for the 25/26 FPL season, while Salah, who started last season at £12.5m, could easily increase to around £14m or higher.
